EVENTS 2014 Whistle While you Work! Work Day - Clyde Hall, Clyde Road Saturday 11 January 10.00 am to 3.00 pm (come for all or part) Want to get out and burn up a few calories without having to go too far? Why not come along and join us with the great people of Surrey Opera for a Work Day? Members of Surrey Opera have already put in a huge amount of work to repair and renovate Clyde Hall. They would very much appreciate our help for a day. This would be for easy, practical tasks - possibly painting. No experience needed. Homemade soup will be provided free or bring your own picnic if you prefer. Experience a friendly welcome and have fun while working with your neighbours. EVENTS 2013 Cancer Research UK - Supper and
Quiz Night Thank you to everyone who came along to help us raise funds for Cancer Research UK. It was a relaxed, enjoyable evening with quite a buzz in the hall! A big thank you to Robert for organising the whole evening. We raised a total of £221 after expenses. Income: Adult admissions 48@£10 = £480 Total Income = £581 Costs: Food £310 Total Costs = £370 Net Total Surplus for Cancer Research UK = £221

Festival; better communicated local events like Tattoo Art Fair,
HOME Residents Association morning at PMT coffee shop, digging holes with
Friends of Addiscombe Railway Park so children can plant trees; begun to liaise with local businesses to make people aware of what we have to offer locally. We want to do MORE! Please come along and contribute ideas of what you would like to do. The event will be an informal get-together. Everyone welcome, all ages, new to the area or have lived here a while. Play area with toys for children (unsupervised). Light refreshments - please feel free to bring something to share. We look forward to seeing you and hearing what you would like to do. BRING AND BUY SALE Saturday 6 April 10.30 am - 12.00 Come along for a friendly welcome from our neighbours at Edward Jobson Court. There will be bargains as well as excellent home-made cakes!
Thursday 9 May Another way of connecting with neighbours! Come along for a social and informative evening. Have a chance to air your views and meet neighbours. We will keep the meeting part of the evening as informal and short as possible. We have invited our local Councillors, Greater London Assembly Member and MP. Afterwards there is plenty of time to chat with neighbours and enjoy refreshment. The time after the main meeting is one when you can talk to our local Councillors, GLA Member and MP about matters of interest to you. If there is a topic you would like to raise or have more information on, please let Anne know by Thursday 25 April. Look forward to seeing you there!

ADDISCOMBE IN ACTION S0S - Your local park needs YOU! Sunday 10 February, 2.00 - 4.00 pm Friends of Addiscombe Railway Park have 100 saplings that are to be planted by children from Woodside School. We need as many people as possible to
come along on Sunday 10 February between 2.00 and 4.00 pm to dig holes
ready for the children to plant the trees. If you can spare one or two
hours, please come along to Addiscombe Railway Park. You will find people
digging by the apple tree. This is to the right as you come in through
the East India Way entrance to the park. Your help will be warmly welcome! Coffee and Cake Morning HOME Residents Association with Addiscombe
in Action are organising a social drop-in event at PMT cake shop in Addiscombe
next to the tram tracks. Just come along and enjoy a cup of coffee or
whatever. If you fancy a cake, they are truly delicious!
EVENTS 2012 Tatoo Art Show Friday 9 - Sunday 11 November Sir Phillip Game Centre, Morland Avenue The Tatoo Art Show will be held locally. A number of artists will be featured including Kali. Also known as Kris Wlodarski, he holds an MA in philosophy and is currently studying fine art. He works out of the studio Never Say Die in George Street. When not tattooing he paints in oil. Sell or Swap Canning and Clyde Roads Saturday 15 September 2.00 - 4.00 pm While the weather's still reasonably mild, we thought we'd hold a Sell or Swap session on Saturday 15 September in our two roads. For just two hours, 2.00 to 4.00 pm, feel free to display items you would like to sell or give away in the front garden where you live. If you would also like to wander round, you could ask a neighbour to keep an eye on your items. We thought it's not only a convenient way to get rid of things but an easy way to meet neighbours! Items can include household goods, clothes, CDs / DVDs, crafts you have made, food you have cooked, surplus fruit, vegetable or plants from your garden or window ledge. All we would ask is - at the end of the session please take everything out of your front garden! If it is raining, then we will simply swap to the following day (Sunday) at the same time. The World in our Roads BBQ Sunday 1 July, 1.00 - 6.00 pm (come for 5 minute or 5 hours) Back garden of 42 Canning Road (bang opposite the church) All residents in Canning & Clyde Road are warmly welcome to come along to our BBQ. It's a relaxed, friendly event for people of all ages. As this is the year of the Olympics, our theme is The World in our Streets. It's free! Just bring along food from your own or another country. It could be either somethign for teh BBQ or something to put on the table. Bring what you like to drink. There will be shelter for sun or rain. OUR AGM Thursday 20 May 2010 7.30 pm, Edward Jobson Court, Canning Road Come along to our AGM. It is an opportunity to catch up on what's happening locally, air your views and listen to those of neighbours. We have invited elected representatives (Councillors, MP and Greater London Assembly Member (GLAM)). Steve O'Connell (GLAM) has already said he'll be there. Two of our new councillors have said they will be there too. We have also invited our local Police team. The business part of the meeting will last no longer than 45 minutes. Afterwards there is food and drink and an opportunity to meet with neighbours. It's a fun time and all are welcome! Hope to see you there. Our annual barbecue this year will have the theme of 'bubbles'. Thanks to Rose for suggesting this. Come along for five minutes or five hours. Meet the neighbours. Our barbecues are good fun and very friendly affairs. More details nearer the time. ADDISCOMBE CARNIVAL Sunday 25 July 2010 Pat and Derek of the Croydon Lions boldly went and revived the Addiscombe Carnival after 30 or so years since the last. Their mission - to seek local people and encourage community spirit especially encouraging young people. It was a great day. As it was so successful, Pat and Derek will be organising an Addiscombe Carnival 2010 on Sunday 25 July. If you would like to become involved in some way: deliver fliers, be a steward for a couple of hours, have a stall, demonstrate a sport, dance, sing or take part in the carnival procession, please let Anne know. * * * * * * * * * * EVENTS IN 2009 Big 3-0 Barbecue Sunday 21

This was a good social event and people managed to get rid of (sorry - recycle) some articles. A big thank you to the Surrey Opera who were our hosts in Clyde Hall and provided us with great hospitality with fun and home made cakes and savouries. * * * * * * * * * * EVENTS IN 2008 Hungarian Goulash supper - Saturday 15 November Thanks to Andor who cooked a delicious treat and raised £100 for association funds. Many thanks to those who also made donations. Second-hand sale - Saturday 11 October This turned out to be an enjoyable social event. The fourteen or so stallholders also made a little money. Many thanks to the Surrey Opera Society who provided delicious home made cakes and hospitality. Longest Day Barbecue - Sunday

came along and made this a sizzling fun occasion. And we were lucky with
the weather again! * * * * * * * * * * EVENTS IN 2007 Our Barbecue - Sunday 1 July 2007 Many thanks to the 60 or more people who attended our barbecue. Special thanks to our expert barbecuists, Tony, Anne and others, and to our inimitable rafflers, Richard and Linda. Thanks too to Steve Collins (the other SC of Addiscombe) and his Black Cat Brewery for some great locally brewed beer. As chance would have it, we did not need our big blue tent and gazebos as the weather was fine. Here are a few photos.
