OUR AGM

Thursday 20 May 2010

7.30 pm, Edward Jobson Court, Canning Road

Come along to our AGM. It is an opportunity to catch up on what's happening locally, air your views and listen to those of neighbours. We have invited elected representatives (Councillors, MP and Greater London Assembly Member (GLAM)). Steve O'Connell (GLAM) has already said he'll be there. Two of our new councillors have said they will be there too. We have also invited our local Police team. The business part of the meeting will last no longer than 45 minutes. Afterwards there is food and drink and an opportunity to meet with neighbours. It's a fun time and all are welcome! Hope to see you there.

Items on the Draft Agenda are: Update on East Croydon area; Latest on proposed development of Council Offices; Rubbish and street cleaning; East India Conservation Area - we will be asking you what you think gives our two roads and the East India Conservation area their distinctive character; Forthcoming events; Update from our elected representatives. Update from our local Police team.

THE BUBBLY BBQ

Sunday 18 July 2010

1.00 - 6.00 pm, 42 Canning Road (opposite the church)

Yes - it's barbecue time! Our annual barbecue this year will have the theme of 'bubbles'. Thanks to Rose for suggesting this.

Come along for five minutes or five hours. Meet the neighbours. Our barbecues are good fun and very friendly affairs. More details nearer the time.

ADDISCOMBE CARNIVAL

Sunday 25 July 2010

Pat and Derek of the Croydon Lions boldly went and revived the Addiscombe Carnival after 30 or so years since the last. Their mission - to seek local people and encourage community spirit especially encouraging young people. It was a great day. As it was so successful, Pat and Derek will be organising an Addiscombe Carnival 2010 on Sunday 25 July. If you would like to become involved in some way: deliver fliers, be a steward for a couple of hours, have a stall, demonstrate a sport, dance, sing or take part in the carnival procession, please let Anne know.

Big 3-0 Barbecue – Sunday 21 June, 1.00 to 6.00 pm
Back garden 42 Canning Road (opposite the church)

Yes! It’s The Big One! – 30 years since Steve (Collins) founded the Canning & Clyde Road Residents Association in 1979. Many thanks to the 65 or so people who came along to celebrate our 30th birthday and helped make it a very enjoyable afternoon. We live in a great area with great residents. It was good to see so many people of all ages there. Thanks to those who brought food or drink or something for the raffle. Big thanks to all who helped in other ways, especially Sharon for the delicious and imaginative birthday cake (see pic) and Linda for her excellent raffle ticket selling skills.

Second-hand sale - Saturday 17 October

This was a good social event and people managed to get rid of (sorry - recycle) some articles. A big thank you to the Surrey Opera who were our hosts in Clyde Hall and provided us with great hospitality with fun and home made cakes and savouries.

EVENTS IN 2007

Our Barbecue - Sunday 1 July 2007

Many thanks to the 60 or more people who attended our barbecue. Special thanks to our expert barbecuists, Tony, Anne and others, and to our inimitable rafflers, Richard and Linda. Thanks too to Steve Collins (the other SC of Addiscombe) and his Black Cat Brewery for some great locally brewed beer.

As chance would have it, we did not need our big blue tent and gazebos as the weather was fine.

Here are a few photos.
